Sneak peek at Train Simulator2 from Leipzig

I was able to obtain these sneak-peek shots showing Microsoft Train Simulator2 from Leipzig. Anyone else notice something particularly interesting about these cab shots (and remember, these are in game)?

  1. Rail Simulator is being produced by Kuju, the same outfit in England who produced the original Microsoft Train Simulator.

There is no ETA for Train Simulator 2 announced just yet. From the looks of the press-kit videos, it will be comprehensive of all rail routes across the world – a first for any train sim!

Looks cool. When’s it supposed to be out? My son is really into trains. We’ve been playing a freeware train sim called BVE, but it’s cab-view only. Another sim called "Rail Simulator" is supposed to be out in October.

Looking forward to simming across the Lake Greenwood bridges without blowing the horn. I can dream. 🙂

  3. I kinda miss the wings and GPS … *ducks_and_runs* … ;-P
OK, serious .. if thats a hint of the eye candy to expect in FSX SP2/DX10 or FS 11 it might change the attitude from "who needs dx10 ?" to "who needs dx10 ? – meeee !" ..

Oh, mama! Those are drop-dead gorgeous. Not only the bloom we’ve become accustomed to in FSX, but some lovely volumetric shadowing, and the feathering on the shadow edges is beyond superb. If I had any doubt about moving up to DX10, this erases it. Ditto for driving on rails. Thanks for sharing those, Owen.
